MARY MEYER DECODED! ( The newest obsession @ www.peperandparlor.com )
a little bit of African and a 5th grader’s creativeness is what inspires the born and raised California girl. She debut her line in 2005, after relocating to Brooklyn, Ny her line took off. The pace and fashion savvy of the city led her designs in an edgier direction, she says, which was noticed by stockists like Oak, Pixie Market, Court, TG-170, and Barneys. When she’s not perfecting her woodblock printing skills or shibori dyeing techniques, Meyer is ensconced in the Brooklyn art scene, hosting exhibits, concerts, sample sales, and performances in the art house she runs from her Greenpoint loft space. Last weekend, she pulled off her largest event to date: a fund-raiser benefiting Step Right Up, a nonprofit after-school program she co-founded that provides free arts workshops for public-school students.
